FAQ
ClimbingNote+ questions, answered
Current product facts for climbers deciding whether the app fits their logging workflow.
Do I need an account to use ClimbingNote+?
No. You can start logging immediately without signing in. Your climbing log is stored in the app's local database.
Which climbing grades are supported?
Bouldering supports V Scale, Fontainebleau, Japanese Dankyu, and reusable custom gym scales. Roped climbing supports YDS, French, UIAA, and Ewbank, with British Trad for traditional routes. Grade conversions are approximate.
Does ClimbingNote+ work without internet?
Core logging, history, saved locations, route libraries, and Insight work offline. Update checks, optional analytics, and platform geocoding require a connection.
How do I back up or move my climbing data?
Export a JSON backup from Settings, then import it on the other device. Import adds new records, keeps newer versions, and reports incompatible conflicts instead of silently deleting data.
What does optional analytics collect?
If you opt in, the app sends the product-usage events described in the privacy policy to Firebase Analytics. You can disable Experience Improvement in Settings at any time.
Can I track gym and outdoor climbing?
Yes. Sessions can be recorded as gym or outdoor activities, and saved places can be organized as gyms or crags.
Which climbing types can I record?
ClimbingNote+ records bouldering, top-rope, and lead climbing. Outdoor route libraries support boulder, sport, and trad route types.
What can I analyze in Insight?
Insight compares sends, attempts, total tries, and send rate. You can filter by 30 days, 90 days, or all history, plus location, climbing type, grade, and tag.
Does the app sync automatically between devices?
No. Each installation has its own local database. Use JSON export and import when you want to make a backup or move records.
Can I use location features without sharing my climbing log?
Location permission is optional. Saved gym and crag coordinates remain in the local app database. Platform geocoding may process coordinates when you request a city or address.
Is ClimbingNote+ available on Android?
Yes. The official website provides the direct Android APK, while the iPhone version is available from the App Store.
Which languages are available?
The current app supports English, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese.
Ready to start a log?
ClimbingNote+ is free to download and does not require an account.
